➕ Column Addition

Learn to add 2-digit numbers using the column method - the way mathematicians do it!

The Column Method Steps:

  1. Line up the place values (T O - Tens | Ones)
  2. Start with ones: Add the ones column
  3. Carry if needed: If ones sum ≥ 10, write the carried 1 above tens
  4. Add tens: Add tens column (don't forget the carried digit!)
  5. Write answer: Read your result!

Example: 37 + 25

    ¹ T  O
      3  7
    + 2  5
    ------
      6  2

Step 1: 7 + 5 = 12 (write 2, carry 1)
Step 2: 3 + 2 + 1 = 6
Answer: 62
